When I first started trying to get mine after 2-3 weeks into WotLk I leveled up a Dk and made him herb/inscript I farmed for about 15 hours for herbs and ended up not making a single nobles card.
You really are better off just selling the herbs you find and buying the cards off the AH when you see them for cheap, you'll save a ton of money. But the other decks don't sell for crap now. I think he got his second like 16K later, he still made lots of other decks.
One guy kept track of how many mats he blew making his own cards came out to the equivalent of around 30-35K in gold to make his first nobles deck cause of the random factor. Math was done a ton back a month or 2 after WotLK came out back then they said you would spend almost 5 times the cost in materials farming the mats and trying to make it, than just farming selling stuff and buying the cards off the AH.
